Notice Regarding ComEd Activity Along the Pecatonica Prairie Trail
The Village has been made aware that ComEd is conducting planning and preliminary field activity related to its existing electric transmission corridor along the Prairie Trail. The Prairie Trail exists within ComEd’s right‑of‑way and operates under a lease agreement between ComEd and the Pecatonica Prairie Trail Commission. As a result, residents may notice utility markings occurring along the trail and in adjacent areas.
If there are unauthorized fences, landscaping, or other improvements located within ComEd’s established right-of-way, they may be subject to removal by ComEd as part of its work within the easement. ComEd may also remove vegetation within the right-of-way as necessary to complete its work. The presence of markings does not necessarily indicate immediate construction, but is part of ComEd’s ongoing evaluation and planning. Any questions or disputes regarding property lines or items located within the right-of-way will need to be addressed directly with ComEd, unless a prearranged written agreement exists between ComEd and the property owner.
At this time, the Village does not have detailed construction schedules or final project plans. The project is being led by ComEd in coordination with the Pecatonica Prairie Trail Commission, and the Village will not be providing project-specific information, as it is not involved in the project.
